Chester

Please read this entire description before applying.Chester is an 8monthold Wheaten Terrier/Poodle mix who currently weighs 30 lbs and is expected to mature around 40-45 lbs. He is learning about the world at his own pace. Chester came to us with very little early social experience, so new people and new environments are still unfamiliar to him. He does well with other dogs and gains confidence from calm, patient handling. Chester will thrive in a quieter home that can offer consistency, gentle structure, and time to settle in. He is a sweet, observant puppy who is making steady progress and is ready for an adopter who understands shy dogs and enjoys helping him grow.Chester is not leash-trained and is not yet ready for walks. A secure, fully fenced backyard is required. He is a flight risk when frightened, so doors, gates, and all transitions must be handled carefully. Chester cannot be crated-he spent much of his early life confined at the breeder's, and crates increase his anxiety. When unattended, he should stay in a dog-safe room with a pet gate.Chester is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines.ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS:• Fully fenced backyard (no invisible fences). Do not apply if you do not have a fenced-in backyard.• Primary caregiver who is home more often.• Children 13+ only.• Calm, patient household.• Friendly resident dog his size or smaller, strongly preferred.• No crates - use a gated room when unattended.• Experience with shy or unsocialized dogs is a plus.• Out-of-state adopters must pick up in person (no shipping). We adopt to neighboring states within 3 hours of Indiana.
