A recent Vet exam showed that Katie has been spayed, although no one knew. It turns out the person who brought it to the shelter, found her last summer as a stray on her doorstep, and thought she was a young puppy rather than a senior dog. We're not sure what kind of care she had in the several months she remained with that person, but as a senior, she is totally adorable, and is going to require a major dentistry next week, scheduled for April 15. Sweet Katie has made great progress in her foster home, and her foster mom thinks she's ready to be adopted. Here are some insights she has made:
*Generally happy little dog, trusting people easily.
*More friendly the longer she was here including resting in my lap.
*Loves to eat.
*Took to her doggie bed right away.
*Never pees inside.
*Gets along fine with my two cats.
*Comfortable with man in a wheelchair.
*Cringes when the leash is being attached.
*Walks easily on a leash.
*Escape artist from her harness when tied out like when I was doing barn chores but didn't go far. (I don't have a fenced yard.)
*Yipped when left alone but got better especially when free in the house.
*Can jump onto an armchair or sofa."
