Meet our handsome boy Prince, or loving nicknamed "Jr" because he looks so much like a previous pup with the same name. Jr is a young pup that knows the struggles of survival. He found himself over a year ago abandoned in the yard of what was once his home. He never knew different and he never thought to leave. He was raised within the chain link fence perimeter and there he patiently waited for the return of people that would never show again. He was left behind with a house mate, a female pitbull and a pillow he curled up on the chilly fall evenings. When liberty arrived and sprung him from this wretched prison, he then found himself in a different kind of cage. He served a long 12 months in the local Waukegan animal control. You see Prince is a loving, kind and grateful dog. He is also a high drive, strong and crate reactive pup that struggled to feel comfortable or calm in a boarding environment. Despite how lovely he was outside of his enclosure many overlooked him for those behaviors. Behaviors that were a mere cry for help, for attention, for love, for understanding.
Prince was waiting for his future to begin yet again. We gladly welcomed him into our program. We discovered a bud that is blossoming even sprouting deep roots of balance, impulse control and steadiness. Prince has shown us what a kind dog he is, what a polite boy he can be on a leash, how obedient he is when he trains. Prince has learned to play fetch and trade his toys, he is becoming calmer in a smaller volume environment where he still sees other pups. He is proving he can be gentle around cats and making friends with a few calm buddies. We see Jr doing best in a home with pitbull/american bulldog knowledge as well as experience. He would do fine with older children 10 years or older and he would be so very loyal and appreciative to any and all adults. He does great with the volunteers that care for him on a weekly basis. If you can take him for walks, play fetch and feed him, this dog will forever cherish you in his big heart. Please consider making the rest of Princes life be as fulfilled as he deserves.
