Chickadee

Hi there! My name is Chickadee, and I'm a sweet little Cavalier girl with a constantly wagging tail and a heart full of love.

Chickadee is a very happy, gentle girl who truly blossoms in the comfort of home. Her tail rarely stops wagging, and she's always content to be near her people or curled up with her dog friends for a cozy nap. She's affectionate, soft-natured, and a classic little lap dog who would love nothing more than to snuggle up beside you.

She gets along beautifully with other dogs of all sizes and would do best in a home with a canine companion to help her feel confident and secure. She's respectful around other dogs-even at mealtime-and happily coexists without causing any fuss.

Chickadee enjoys spending time outside, especially in a securely fenced yard where she can explore, sniff, and enjoy her favorite pastime: chasing birds and their shadows. It's all in good fun-she has no prey drive and doesn't bother other animals, she just loves the excitement of the chase.

While Chickadee is incredibly happy and relaxed at home, she can be shy when meeting new people. She may take a little time to warm up, but with patience, a gentle approach, and maybe a tasty treat, she'll soon show her sweet and loving personality. She does well in her crate, sleeping quietly through the night, and is doing great with potty training-especially with access to a fenced yard or doggy door.

She rides nicely in the car and handles outings like vet visits or grooming well. Leash training is still a work in progress-she's making improvements, but she isn't fully comfortable yet and hasn't quite figured out going potty on leash. Because of this, a fenced yard will be important for her continued success.

Chickadee isn't too interested in traditional toys just yet, but she does have a soft spot for socks (which she loves to carry and shake!), and she's always happy to enjoy a good treat-she's not picky at all.

Chickadee is a loving, gentle, and slightly shy girl who is looking for a patient home where she can continue to build confidence at her own pace.

Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter's expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe.
