Butchess

Butchess is a 15‑pound chihuahua mix who has decided that her life's purpose is to be a full‑time lap warmer. She is 110%% a snuggle dog - the kind who wants to be on you, next to you, or touching you at all times. If you sit down, she appears. If you lie down, she melts into you. If you look even slightly available for affection, she's already halfway into your lap.

She's timid at first, especially with new people or new environments, but once she feels safe, she blossoms into the sweetest, most devoted little companion. She loves sleeping in bed or on the couch with her humans, and she absolutely thrives when she can spend most of the day with her person.

Butchess came from a life where she wasn't taught much, so everything is new - collars, harnesses, leashes, going outside, commands, routines. But she's eager to please, gentle, and trying her very best. She's almost potty trained on a schedule, does well in her crate, and is learning the world step by step. She's also working through some separation anxiety, but with patience and consistency, she'll continue to gain confidence.

She loves gentle play, enjoys a game of fetch (though she hasn't quite mastered the "bring it back" part), and gets adorable zoomies in the morning or after a nap. Speaking of naps - napping is her absolute favorite hobby. She would happily snooze in the same cozy spot all day if you let her.

Butchess is good with cats and dogs, quiet, low‑energy, and perfect for a calm home with older or considerate kids. She'll need a fenced yard since she's fearful and not leash trained yet, but she's a wonderful little companion who just wants someone to love and trust.

Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter's expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe.
