Seriously. Nobody informed Coco that she only has three legs now. She runs full speed through the yard like she pays the mortgage, launches herself onto couches with complete confidence, spins in excited circles like a furry tornado, and plays so hard you genuinely forget she's missing a leg at all. She is pure joy in dog form. Loud, happy, ridiculous joy.
Coco LOVES people. Every person she meets is immediately her best friend, emotional support human, and potential cuddle victim. She has the classic pittie "I would like to crawl directly into your skin because I love you so much" personality. Personal space? Never heard of her. She wants to snuggle, lean against you with her entire body weight, follow you everywhere, and stare into your soul while you eat snacks in hopes that guilt will make you share. Dogs? Amazing. She LOVES other dogs. She wants to play constantly and assumes everyone else also wants to WWE wrestle in the living room at all times. Bigger dogs are probably more her style because tiny teacup dogs become a little too exciting for Miss Coco. Not in a mean way… more in a "OH MY GOD YOU'RE SO SMALL LET'S PARTY" kind of way that could accidentally send a six pound dog into orbit.
Cats are actually fine too, as long as they understand boundaries are more of a suggestion to Coco. She mostly just wants to play with them and follow them around like an oversized toddler. A cat with confidence and high ground access would probably do great with her. The craziest part about Coco is honestly how happy she is after everything she's been through. She survived getting hit by a car, recovered from losing a leg, and somehow came out of it even sillier, more loving, and more full of life. She doesn't sit around feeling sorry for herself for a single second. She wakes up every day ready to have the BEST DAY EVER.
And look… adopting a tripod dog sounds scary until you meet one. Then you realize they adapt better than humans ever could. Coco does stairs, zoomies, couch launching, toy stealing, cuddling, backyard patrol, and dramatic pittie flops just like any other dog. The only real difference is she corners a little funny at high speeds and somehow has even more character than the average pittie.
She deserves a family that sees her the way we do - not as "the dog missing a leg," but as the funniest, happiest, most resilient little meatball on the planet.
If you want a hilarious, affectionate, chaotic best friend who will make you laugh every single day and love you with her entire gigantic pittie heart, Coco is ready to absolutely take over your life.
Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter's expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.
