Sampson is your typical sweet-faced lovable black lab/poodle mix. This pup, at just 8 months is full of life. He gets along fine with kids and other canines. He has a short black coat and a cute looking muzzle. He currently weighs about 54 pounds and will probably be in the large range (over 60 pounds) for size when fully grown. He has not been introduced to cats since coming into rescue.Black labs and poodles are known for their friendliness towards people. They have more than enough affection to go around for the whole family, too. They are intelligent and good-natured. They have plenty of energy and usually like to stay active throughout their lives. They make great family companions. As a mix he will probably have a lot of these qualities.Using the right guidance with consistency, repetition, and patience, will help him with the skills he needs to master. Cheerful praise and lots of treats will go a long way in helping him master those skills. It will take time and energy but the result will be worth it. Good news, Sampson is house trained. He may initially have potty accidents until routines are established. Like most pups he will be a quick learner once routines are established. Daily short walks (under thirty minutes) will be a good opportunity to work on leash skills as well as socialization skills. He is also working on his crate training skills. It will be a new world to him with all the new sights, smells, sounds, and people along his walk. Please note: He may not be a running companion until at least age one when his growth plate closes. Sampson will also appreciate free time in the back yard. Keeping his mind active. Activities that provide physical and mental stimulation will prevent boredom. * When considering adoption, keep in mind that dogs thrive on structure and routine.
