Looking for an active partner? Meet Grits, a two year old Australian cattle dog/blue heeler mix which accounts for that short multi colored coat. Note the sweet expression as if he is looking right at you so you can be his friend. He is adorable. Currently, he weighs 41 pounds, which is in the medium range. He loves to run and play with the other dogs and considers children and adults he meets as his friends. It is not known if he has lived with cats. He was surrendered by his owner for unknown reasons.Australian cattle dog/blue heeler mixes are known for their intelligence. They are fast learners and like to be given a job to do. They are very loyal to their family and want to be part of their daily life. They tend to be high energy dogs, so they will need lots of daily exercise and mental stimulation to stay happy and prevent boredom related behaviors. He would do best in an active household where he could go hiking, running, or play games of fetch, puzzles, scent work, or obedience games. Grits is working on his house, leash, or crate training. Daily walks will be a good opportunity to work on leash skills as well as socialization skills. It will be a new world to him with all the new sights, smells, sounds, and people along his walk. Bring home the joy of Grits and make him your next family member.* Please keep in mind when considering adoption, dogs thrive on structure and routine.
