With ears this big, there is no doubt that Nutmeg is at least part German shepherd! So cute! He has a beautiful short coat that is mostly tan and black. He currently weighs 35 pounds at just over 6 months. So, he will most likely be in the medium size range when fully grown (25-50 lbs.).He has lived outside with other dogs in his short life until he was rescued. As a result, he tends to be very submissive with dogs and people. He will need a home where his family will truly accept him and build his self-confidence. Shepherd mixes are generally known to be smart, loyal, and affectionate, sometimes to the point that they want to Velcro you to them. They can be energetic and therefore need plenty of exercise to prevent boredom.Nutmeg is working on his training such as house, crate and leash walking. He, like most pups will be a quick learner once routines are established. Daily short walks (under thirty minutes) will be a good opportunity to work on leash skills as well as socialization skills. It will be a new world to him with all the new sights, smells, sounds, and people along his walk. Please note: He may not be a running companion until after age one when his growth plate closes.Nutmeg may also appreciate free time in the back yard to burn off energy and to have time to just play. Keeping his mind active with activities that provide physical and mental stimulation is a must. Nutmeg needs to be with a family that will give lots of affection and attention to him. In return, he will blossom into a wonderful, devoted companion.* When considering adoption, keep in mind that dogs thrive on structure and routine. They adjust much better when their owners are committed to providing consistency and stability. The adoption fee for Nutmeg is $500. That includes the cost of spaying/neutering, up to date vaccinations, foster care, rescue and transportation fees.
