HUGO

Hugo—also lovingly known as Booger or Ruger—is a goofy, larger-than-life boy with a huge personality and an even bigger heart. He’s done well with both dogs and cats in foster care and absolutely adores people, quickly deciding everyone he meets is his new best friend. Hugo walks nicely on leash until he spots another person or dog and gets excited to say hello, and he’s especially charming with the ladies when it comes to other dogs. He loves squeaky toys, tug games, chew bones, car rides, and being involved in whatever his people are doing. Once Hugo bonds with someone, he becomes a true velcro dog who wants to stick close by and check in often.Hugo is housebroken, crate trained, and highly food motivated, though he can sometimes get a little grabby with treats in his excitement. He’s a rough-and-rowdy player who doesn’t fully understand his size and can be mouthy during play, so a home with older children would likely be the best fit for his goofy antics. Hugo is smart, curious, and definitely mischievous at times—he can counter surf, sneak into trash, chew on items left out, and has mastered slipping collars, harnesses, and cracked doors if given the opportunity. Despite that, he redirects well, responds nicely to training, and truly has “no mean bone in his body.” Hugo would thrive in an active home with structure, supervision, and ideally a secure fenced yard where his playful, silly personality can shine safely.
