Marigold and Daisy are a bonded sister pair of two year olds, up to date on vaccines and spayed. They must stay together. Here's what their foster volunteer says of them, after only one week in foster care:
How would you describe the cat's general personality? Playful, curious, fun-loving.
Does the cat enjoy being pet? Sometimes. They will usually tolerate it, but they don't seem to love it for long periods of time.
If yes, on what parts of its body does the cat like to be pet? Both- side of chin, along their backs. They both head-butt a lot and like to rub up against legs. Marigold has been reported to like belly rubs but I haven't tried giving her any yet.
Are there any parts of its body that the cat does NOT like being touched? I haven't noticed any particular problem areas.
Does the cat come on your lap? Daisy will. She usually wants to sit the same way- her head next to the left armpit, and she will knead and purr. She will also settle in on my lap on the couch or when I am sitting in bed often. Marigold is almost never on my lap. While it's been colder, she will sometimes cuddle up against my legs.
Does the cat like to be held? Neither wants to be held often or for long.
Does the cat sleep in your bed? Yes, sometimes one, sometimes both.
Does the cat seek your attention? Yes, they both love attention, usually in an attempt to get more playtime.
Does the cat like to play? Yes with me or each other.
What are the cat's favorite games and toys? Springs, teaser with fabric strip, and balls in track tower. They especially love chasing after wand toys and will demand that I get them out to play with them if they are feeling bored.
How vocal is the cat? They're both pretty vocal.
What kinds of sounds does the cat make? Meowing, purring, guttural growling noises with or at toys. Daisy has been reported to do 'chirps,' often to get my attention that she's brought me a toy. They do make these chatty, insistent meows when they want something.
Does the cat scratch a scratcher? Both do, regularly. They like sisal vertical scratchers and cardboard horizontal ones.
Does the cat always use the litter box? Yes
What food and frequency is the cat currently eating? Purina Live Clear always available, plus canned pate twice a day.
Is the cat picky about food? Maybe a little bit. I've only had them for about a week, and they will generally eat what I offer them.
What is the cat's favorite treat? Lickable treats! I've had success with both Churu and Catit Creamy. They don't seem interested in solid treats.
Does the cat ever swat (claws in) at you? If so, under what circumstances? Not a lot, maybe in play or for attention.
Has the cat ever scratched (claws out) you? No. The previous owner has reported that they have when giving meds, trying to clip claws, etc. Never unprovoked.
Does the cat ever nip (teeth without breaking skin) you? No.
Has the cat ever bitten you (breaking skin)? No
To the best of your knowledge, how does the cat react to new people? Social? Fearful? Daisy- very curious and sometimes immediately takes to a new person. Marigold hides at first but soon gets curious - will observe from a little distance then come out. With the previous owner, they did surprisingly well when they had grandkids aged 6, 3, and 1 staying there for 3 weeks.
Does that cat have any cute/quirky traits that aren't covered by the previous questions? Daisy- most of the time has a blep (tongue out), likes to play fetch with a toy spring. Marigold loves to play and will try to root out wand toys from where they're stored.
In your opinion, what is the best thing about the cat? Why should an adopter choose THIS cat to adopt? They are extremely cute and extremely affectionate. They are playful nearly all the time and still also love to cuddle.
What are the cat's challenges and how have you found to best manage them? They like to get underfoot, Daisy especially. They also require a lot of attention and stimulation. Having locations high up and windows are a huge benefit for both of them. They love a few of my windows that are above eye level and will spend time just hanging out there looking outside. The previous owner recommended a busy household or at least one where a human is home most of the day. I work from home, which means that they at least have someone to bother a lot of the time, and that might help. They do also love to knock things off ledges when they get bored, more than any of the other foster cats I've had. Just be careful if you have anything that's fragile or might be an issue.
