She arrived at the shelter from a household with many dogs that the owners were unable to care for, so she spent most of her life in a backyard with little human attention. She is seeking a patient, understanding adopter to help her adjust to life as a pet. Her 3 adult pups—Poe, Pat, and Syngee—also came with her to the shelter, but it is recommended that she be separated from them because she can be a bit of a momma bear.It would also be good for her to finally have some attention for herself. She will likely do fine in a home with other small dogs, cats, and small-dog-savvy large dogs. Shirley is spayed, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccines and flea control.
