At 2 years old and 98 pounds of pure love, Brown Sugar is a Central Asian Shepherd mix who lives up to his name - sweet, mellow, and full of heart. This big ole baby is a true teddy bear in a dog's body, always ready to melt into your lap (or try to, at least!).He's a gentle, well-mannered boy who loves people and other dogs alike. Brown Sugar is incredibly tolerant and polite when meeting new pups, often winning them over with his calm, kind energy. He walks beautifully on a leash, knows his basic obedience commands like sit, paw, and lay down, and takes his treats ever so gently.Brown Sugar enjoys the simple things in life - a soft bed, a few yummy snacks, a cozy nap in the sunshine, and good company by his side. He's low-energy, seems potty trained, and has the soul of an old friend who's been waiting his whole life to find you.He arrived at the shelter as an unclaimed stray, left behind in the overnight drop box - but with his gentle nature and sweet disposition, it's clear someone loved and taught him well. Now, he's ready for a home where he'll never be left behind again. This staff favorite is an obedient, food-motivated lovebug who would thrive in a calm home with another dog or two to share his days with. Whether it's lounging on the couch, going for easy strolls, or giving soft kisses, Brown Sugar is ready to sweeten your life in every way possible.Brown Sugar was rescued from a high kill shelter in New Mexico.Meet and greets are by appointment only. An approved application is required to schedule a meeting. Check out our events page for upcoming open adoption events! We have no additional back story or update for this dog at this time. When we do, it will be updated here. This is all the information we have currently. Approved Applicants may make the adoption fee payment by clicking donate above. Partial adoption fees will not hold a dog. If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded. Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free pet insurance. We are not affiliated with MetLife pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect). Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets. The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico. While all dogs are picked up during our scheduled times, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances.
