Meet Winslow, the beagle mix! Winslow arrived to the Shelter after his previous guardian was unable to continue caring for him. Winslow may not look like a beagle upon first glance but he sure bays like a beagle when he is in the mood to chat. Winslow is hanging out in a foster home so we can learn more about him in a home environment. His foster reports: âWinslow is the happiest little guy! All he needs are his toys, his dinner, and his cozy blankets. Heâs still got plenty of energy and doesnât act like an old man at all. He likes to spend his days curled up next to his person (always with belly rubs and kisses), going for sniffaris, and occasionally doing zoomies around the living room. Heâs also a huge fan of puzzle toys and other food-finding games. While heâd love to share a bed with you at night, he will sleep in his own bed nearby. Heâs quiet and sleeps through the night. Winslow has been friendly with every person heâs met, including my 8 year old cousin. Heâs been pretty indifferent to all the neighborhood animals, more interested in sniffing than engaging, even when other dogs are barking. He also seems to be completely housetrained. Whoever adopts this boy will be incredibly lucky!âWinslow's adoption fee has been sponsored by the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation's Leave No One Behind fund - a fund that draws adopter's eyes towards animals that have been waiting a little bit longer than average for the right adopters to come along and bring them home. The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering âPawsitivity Bucksâ with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw! Please note: Our Santa Cruz locationâs Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end âmeet and greetsâ (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If youâd like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
