Meet Rocco, a pit-sky mix (pitbull and husky) with striking icy blue eyes and a personality to match. He came to the Shelter after his family's landlord no longer allowed dogs â through no fault of his own, this guy needs a new place to call home. Rocco is playful, loving, and a little goofy in the best way. He is also surprisingly calm for a puppy, and thrives with routine and structure â which makes him a genuinely great dog to have around. He learns quickly â already responding to sit, come, and his name â plays well with other dogs and older, dog-savvy children, and takes direction well. When playtime is over he is just as happy to flip onto his back and melt into a good chest scratch â this boy lives for affection. Like any puppy, Rocco is still a work in progress â he is learning his manners, working through the occasional mouthy moment, and still getting the hang of potty training. He does best when given a routine, clear expectations, and regular opportunities to go outside. A meet and greet at the Shelter is recommended before going home with a dog sibling. If you are looking for a velcro pup who just wants to hang out with his people, Rocco is your dog!Rocco's adoption fee has been sponsored by the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation's Leave No One Behind fund- a fund that draws adopter's eyes towards animals that have been waiting a little bit longer than average for the right adopters to come along and bring them home. The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering âPawsitivity Bucksâ with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw! Please note: Our Santa Cruz locationâs Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end âmeet and greetsâ (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If youâd like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
