Meet Theodore, the Border Collie German Shepherd mix. Theodore came to the Shelter as an owner surrender after his previous guardians lost their housing. He was very loved and cared for in that home. Thor is an active, engaging adolescent that is looking to be someoneâs sidekick. He would thrive with regular physical stimulation. He loves to play fetch with a ball and swim in the water. Theodore is also a smart cookie â already knowing âsitâ, âstayâ, and âlay downâ for a treat. Heâd love to continue working his brain and bonding with his new adoptive family. Staff and volunteers have observed that Theodore does exceptionally well with other dogs â often used as a playgroup or walking buddy for dogs who need socialization or a play buddy at the Shelter. Theodore has gone to numerous events where he has also made canine friends with the publicâs animal. A home with another dog may be a fit after a meet ân greet at the Shelter. Theodore would do best in a home free of small animals and felines as he does have a bit of a prey drive. Theodoreâs adoption fee has been sponsored by a good Samaritan. The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering âPawsitivity Bucksâ with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw! Please note: Our Santa Cruz locationâs Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end âmeet and greetsâ (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If youâd like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
