SAMMIE

Meet Sammie, the 7 year old mixed breed (reportedly Rottweiler and Malinois). Sammie came to the Shelter after her previous guardian had a medical condition that kept him from being able to continue caring for her. Although Sammie is 7, she is still very agile and eager to walk, play and interact. She previously lived with a French bulldog whom she enjoyed playing and interacting with. Her previous guardian reports that she has lots of dog friends. She has also lived in a home with children ages 4 to 9 years old. Sammie is described as house trained. In her previous home, Sammie did have some observed prey drive towards small animals so a home with felines or other pocket pets is not recommended. Her previous guardian described her as very active – loves to run, play and swim (LOVES WATER!). She enjoys car rids. She knows “stay”, “jump up” and “sit”. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw!Now through February 15th, all adoption fees are reduced to $33 - come to the Shelter today to adopt your very own Valentine!Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
