Ruger is the type of dog who loves keeping both his body and brain moving! This handsome guy is at his happiest when he has structure, a positive outlet for his energy, and plenty of opportunities for enrichment. Whether he’s learning something new, exploring the outdoors, or simply spending time with his people, Ruger is always ready to make the most out of his day! Even with all that energy and enthusiasm, Ruger still manages to be one of the sweetest guys around. He loves meeting new people and making friends, and so far, we have yet to meet someone that Ruger doesn’t love! When he’s happy to see you, Ruger puts on his very best puppy dog eyes and happily sits at your feet. Combined with his large size and handsome face, he’s pretty hard not to adore!The great outdoors is truly where Ruger shines! He recently discovered our Miles & Mutts adventures, and we don’t think he could be happier about it. Hitting the trails, breathing in the fresh air, and getting the chance to explore the world around him has quickly become one of his greatest joys. Ruger would love a home where he can continue enjoying adventures while also having opportunities to keep his intelligent mind busy. Ruger presents himself as a confident, dominant male but has been respectful toward other dogs, especially when they are respectful of his boundaries too. He may do best with female canine friends, and we are always happy to provide a dog-to-dog meet and greet prior to adoption if needed! Ruger may be potty trained, although it can be difficult to know for certain in a shelter environment. Like any dog transitioning into a new home, he will need time to decompress, adjust, and learn his new routine. Ruger generally walks well on a leash and knows the cues sit and down.
