Meet Russo: The Gentle Giant

While he is a big dog at 83 pounds, you couldn't find a more gentle compliant, and sweet-natured friend. He is the most lovable boy. He walks on leash like a champ and doesn't pull, even when confronted with rabbits or wild turkeys. He is house trained, crate trained, and responds well to redirection. He is a quiet co-worker and rarely barks. Even though he sits at counter height, he never counter-surfs, even when my kids leave food within easy reach.

He loves affection. Despite his size, he believes he is a cuddly lap dog. He is generally calm, slow-paced, and wonderful with children. He loves to stand on his hind legs to give big hugs, which we are currently working on redirecting. Russo forgets his own size when he's excited, and his bursts of energy can be a bit intense for small children. He would do best in a home with older children as his size can be intimidating for young kids.
