Dakota is a 7-year-old Bernese Mountain gentleman with a calm, gentle nature and a serious appreciation for snacks. He knows all the important commands—sit, shake, down, stay, and come—and is highly motivated to show off his skills if treats are involved (which, in Dakota’s opinion, they always should be). According to his previous owner, Dakota comes with excellent manners and a solid foundation. He was reported to be housebroken, crate trained, and to have completed obedience training. They also shared that he was not destructive, did not try to escape, and overall handled home life like a true professional.Dakota is friendly with adults and enjoys a steady environment. His previous owner did note that he can be scared of kids and dogs, and that he has shown aggression toward cats. He’s the kind of dog who prefers a predictable routine and a low-key lifestyle. On leash, Dakota can pull a bit—nothing wild, just a large, fluffy guy occasionally making suggestions about where the walk should go. His previous owners reported he walked well, so it may just be the shelter environment.
