Ben is a 2-year-old pit bull mix currently enrolled in the Shelter’s Shy Dog Program, where he has been putting in the work and making progress. He may still be a little shy in new situations, but give him a moment and he’ll show you just how sweet and gentle he really is. Think of him as a “slow burn” best friend—the kind that just gets better the more you know him. Ben’s favorite hobby? Sniffing. Thoroughly. He enjoys taking in the world at his own pace, especially on walks where he can explore all the exciting smells life has to offer. Once he feels comfortable, Ben is a total softie. He leans in for pets like he’s melting, sneaks in the occasional polite kiss, and happily soaks up affection. He’s calm, gentle, and has a quiet charm that really grows on you. He also has a playful side—he’s curious about toys, enjoys a good ball, and will sometimes show off his fetching skills when the mood strikes. (He likes to keep you guessing.) Ben already knows how to come when called and is building confidence every day.
