This girl is really something special! She has the heart of a warrior as she battled (and won) FIP twice! She is now strong and healthy but still looking for her perfect home. Just look at that sweet round face and bright, beautiful eyes!! Please keep reading to see if NYX might be exactly who you need in your life, she truly deserves the best and we know her person will be totally worth waiting for.
***This kitty is an FIP Survivor. Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP) was once 100%% fatal, but now thanks to an amazing group of researchers this is changing. In 2023 about 80%% of cats diagnosed and treated are being saved. In Summer of 2024 the drug used to treat this disease became legal for USA vets to prescribe. Cats that survive FIP do not require any special medications, or food, just lots of love and attention. It is important that they continue regular annual checkups to monitor their health. These kitties have been through so much just to become healthy again and really deserve a second chance to have a beautiful life!
Nyx was brought to us from another shelter that didn't have any small kittens of her age for playmates. We put her in the baby room with others her age, but we don't think she was necessarily appreciative. Nyx has a very strong personality. Very independent which at times makes her seem a little bossy to other cats. This girl knows what she likes and she is not afraid to share any/all of those opinions. NYX does love human attention, still on her own terms, but will happily let you know when and where she prefers to be touched. We believe some of this is due to FIP treatments (which while she was treated included a needle shot daily) so she may have some sensitivity on her back, Again, she will let you know when you are "doing it right". Because of this we think NYX's perfect fit would not include small children, not because she dislikes them, but just due to some of her sensitivities, and very strong personality. I think NYX would also say that she would love to be your one and only! She may do fine with a very mellow cat that really isn't looking for her to join a cuddle puddle with them, or an equally strong and sassy cat that is happy to just exchange some judgmental glares occasionally but not looking for a true love connection. In all seriousness, NYX has grown up in our shelter so she has always been around other cats. She does not fight or cause any issues for others, as long as they respect her boundaries and space. She always has others around her, on cat trees, on the table, or in the catio, but she always has her own space in any area. The other cats know and respect that. NYX is also very playful, she loves balls, toy mice, and springs!! She plays often, but always by herself, which she seems perfectly happy with. We do however catch her looking up occasionally just to make sure "someone" is watching. This cat is 100%% adorable and perfect in every way.
