Hi, I'm
Bear.
I'm a sensitive, sweet boy who's looking for a very special kind of home - one filled with patience, understanding, and lots of love.
I can be pretty unsure about new people at first. I'm especially nervous around fast movements and little kids, so I'd do best in a home with
teens (13+) or adults only
who can move slowly and give me time to feel safe. I tend to warm up best to women, and once I trust you, you'll see just how loving I truly am. It usually takes me a few visits (and lots of calm energy) before I'm ready for pets and affection - but I promise, I'm worth the wait.
I also struggle with
separation anxiety
, so I'm hoping for a home where someone is around most of the time. I do well in my crate as long as I can see or hear my people, and I'm currently on medication that helps take the edge off. I'll need someone who understands anxious or traumatized dogs and is willing to move slowly with me - the
3-3-3 rule
will be very important for my success. Professional training or prior experience would be a huge plus for me.
The good news? Once I feel safe, I am an absolute
joy
. I LOVE to run, especially in the snow - I shove my whole face into it and come back inside covered, which is apparently very funny. I play chase like it's my full-time job and never seem to get tired. I've also discovered tail-chasing, and yes, it's as adorable as it sounds.
I'm a
huge cuddle bug
. I sleep in bed all night with my head on your chest or neck, and I want to be by your side at all times (sometimes literally - I may stop right in front of your feet). I'd likely do well with a
confident, friendly dog
who could help show me the ropes.
I was recently returned because the transition was just too overwhelming, but that doesn't define me. I just need the right person - someone patient, steady, and kind - and I'll give you my whole heart.
If you're willing to go slow with me, I'll be your most loyal shadow, your adventure buddy, and your biggest snuggle bug.
