General Notes | Penny is a young chocolate lab who's as sweet as she is rare-think the last batch of minted pennies, but fuzzier and way better at cuddling. At just 37 pounds, she's delightfully dainty for a lab, making her the perfect "medium-sized" best friend who fits just about anywhere.This girl is all heart and legs, with a gentle, playful spirit and that classic lab love for people. Penny is young, curious, and ready to learn, with just the right mix of puppy enthusiasm and grown-up good manners. Personality | Penny is a sweet girl who is up for couch snuggles anytime but is also the perfect adventure companion. Want to go on a hike? Penny is ready to blaze a trail by your side. Feeling a long drive? Penny is a professional backseat surfer. Just want to play fetch in the yard? Penny is still working on this skill but she's getting there. Other Dogs | Penny is great with other dogs. She is up for speedy laps around the yard with pups her age and also knows how to slow things down and sniff around with older dogs. Cats | Would prefer a cat-free household. Children | Is a fan of kids! LOVES love.Training | Penny is eager to learn but is still just a puppy so her list of tricks is a work in progress. She is food motivated and picks up new skills very quickly. Penny recently learned to jump over and crawl under obstacles with minimal repetition in an agility yard. Leash | Walks ok on leash but could use a little more work in this area. Activity Level | Penny will match your energy level - she is happy to snooze in the background of your Zoom calls or do zoomies in the yard! Health Notes | Thank you! | Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $575 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year old, $525 for 1 - 6 years old, $475 for dogs 7 - 10 years old, and $350 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $625. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, transportation to Colorado, and supplies while in foster care that currently average over $750 per dog).Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet and greets by appointment to approved applicants only. To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process. We will not respond to emails about animal availability or allow meet and greets without an approved adoption application on file. Please Note | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption. We can not guarantee that a dog you wish to adopt is available by the time your adoption application is submitted, processed, and approved. Your application is good for one year from the date of applying for any dog as long as it is a good fit for your family and your lifestyle. We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. That means you can often meet a dog upon transport arrival and adopt before they even make it to this page!
