General Notes | If you are looking for the "total package," look no further than Tess! This wonderful girl is a rare find-she is a true social butterfly who gets along famously with everyone she meets. Tess is wonderful with children, making her a fantastic family addition, and she is equally friendly and respectful with other dogs and even cats! Not only is she social, but she's also a star in the home. Tess is already crate trained, which means she understands her boundaries and is ready for a smooth, easy transition into your routine. Whether she's playing in the yard or curling up for a nap, Tess is the definition of a well-rounded, easygoing friend. Want to adopt this dog? Please do not email us. Please fill out the Adoption Application ASAP. Personality | Tess is loving, loves to spend time with people (especially children) and is very well behaved. Other Dogs | Tess gets along with my senior dogs. They initially sniffed each other out and afterwards, Tess was able to be alongside them. My dogs are older, and they don't play. Tess is learning how to play, and will prompt for play occasionally but respects their space. Several days after joining our household, she was interested in holding a tennis ball in her mouth. She doesn't know about playing catch yet. I placed stuffed animals in her kennel, but she is not interested in them.Cats | She is fine with cats - very interested but not aggressive. It's quite adorable how curious she is about our cat. Children | LOVES children truly - Tess absolutely LOVES my kids! I have two kids aged 7 and 5 and she loves to be around them. She enjoys belly rubs and all the cuddles she can get. Tess does this thing where she shows her love by jumping up and grabbing your arm with her paws. I think that when she was at the shelter, the only way she could get touched was by jumping up and getting pet. So she may be jumpy initially, but she just wants to get pet. She enjoys being rubbed all over. She could be a total cuddle bug.Training | Tess does well in a crate and on a leash. She does a great job sleeping at night and she has not had a potty accident in her kennel. We also have not had an accident with her inside the house. I usually tell her "outside" and she runs to the back door. I will say that she is cautious/nervous coming inside the house. I'm not sure if she thinks she will be in trouble, but that's what her body language is giving. When she roams the home, the kennel remains open, and she seeks it out for comfort. She eats and drinks in her kennel. Tess knows how to "sit". I have not been able to teach her other commands. Tess isincredibly social and is interested in other people. She is very observant! When she met my mother she wanted to receive all the cuddles. Tess does well on a leash. Tess is not a barker when I get home.Leash | Good on leash.Activity Level | Medium energy level. Health Notes | Thank you! | Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $575 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year old, $525 for 1 - 6 years old, $475 for dogs 7 - 10 years old, and $350 for 11+ years of age. Purebred dogs regardless of age are $625. These minimum donations help to defer the costs of initial vet care, food, transportation to Colorado, and supplies while in foster care that currently average over $750 per dog).Meeting Dogs | Foster dogs may have meet and greets by appointment to approved applicants only. To become an approved applicant - please complete the application process. We will not respond to emails about animal availability or allow meet and greets without an approved adoption application on file. Please Note | Available dogs are updated as soon as possible and we do our best to keep it up-to-date, but occasionally dogs shown may become unavailable without notice due to a pending adoption. We can not guarantee that a dog you wish to adopt is available by the time your adoption application is submitted, processed, and approved. Your application is good for one year from the date of applying for any dog as long as it is a good fit for your family and your lifestyle. We encourage you to put in an application even if you don't see your new family member currently, as once you are approved, we can place you on the waiting list for first priority on the selection of the dogs we do bring in. That means you can often meet a dog upon transport arrival and adopt before they even make it to this page!
