PERLA NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!
Name: Perla Best Guess for Breed: Chihuahua and terrier mix
Best Guess for Age: 7 months as of December 2025 SEX: Female
Approximate Weight: 11 lbs as of 11/21/25 - she is still growing!
Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen her with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!
Currently Living at: DC area foster home
Special adoption considerations: Dogs from Puerto Rico have a major transition to go through when they arrive and will need humans who are very committed to socialization. We think Perla would do best with either a resident dog or a family who can make sure she can go on walks regularly with other dogs, visit the dog park, or go to doggie daycare to learn the ropes.

Growing up together has been great but now we're ready to split up and get our own human families. I'm looking for adventure! Lots of sniffy walks and romps with pup pals and world exploration. My legs may be little but they're sturdy I have all that great young-dog energy!
Most of all, though, I want to always be safe and loved, to always know where I belong. I promise so much love and loyalty in return. What do you say? Do I get to go home with you?
What My Foster Says About Me: Perla is a great balance of playful energy and affectionate companion. She loves playing with toys and exploring the house and yard. She's clearly people oriented and loves human attention. When it was time to relax, she wanted to cuddle up on a lap to sleep.
She is a young, energetic pup and would definitely benefit from regular exercise and active engagement. Her active, fun loving nature combined with her enthusiastic and cuddly personality is going to make her an absolutely wonderful companion.
