Special adoption considerations: Dogs from Puerto Rico have a major transition to go through when they arrive and will need humans who are very committed to socialization. We think this pup would do best with either a resident dog or a family who can make sure she can go on walks regularly with other dogs, visit the dog park, or go to doggie daycare to learn the ropes.

Violeta is Looking For: Her forever home! Violeta landed in the shelter in Puerto Rico through no fault of her own is now coming to the DC area to get her new humans. She's eager to explore it with her new family. Sniffy walks and romps in parks and cuddles - that's high on her list, along with quality kibble and a cushy dog bed. Most of all, though, she wants to know where she belongs, to be safe and loved. In exchange, she promises adoring gazes and loyal companionship for all her days. What do you say? What My Foster Says About Me: Meet Violeta or Your New Shadow, Hiking Buddy, and Professional Couch Potato. Are you looking for a girl who can do both? Violeta came from Puerto Rico and she is the ultimate lifestyle chameleon. Inside, she is a master of the low-chaos lifestyle. She seamlessly matches the chill vibe of her senior foster siblings and will happily hold down the couch while you WFH or binge Netflix. But outside? She's a machine. We recently conquered a 7-mile trek, and she matched my pace stride-for-stride. Whatever your energy is today, she's matching it. Her Best Quirk:The way she looks at you. Violeta is a girl who just wants to make you proud. She constantly checks in with these soulful, adoring looks, just waiting for a little affirmation that she's a good girl. (Spoiler: She's the best girl and LOVES belly rubs). She is a remarkably fast learner, potentially bilingual!
