Approximate Weight: 28 lbs

Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen her with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!
Currently Living at: DC area foster home

Special adoption considerations: Dogs from Puerto Rico have a major transition to go through when they arrive and will need humans who are very committed to socialization. We think this pup would do best with either a resident dog or a family who can make sure she can go on walks regularly with other dogs, visit the dog park, or go to doggie daycare to learn the ropes.In certain home settings -- where the environment might be loud or more intense -- this dog would do better with another dog in the home to give her confidence.

Lauren is Looking For: Her forever home! Lauren is a sato - a dog from Puerto Rico. She is eager to get her fresh start with her own humans in the DC area. Sniffy walks, romps, all the adventures in her new setting - yes, please! But you know what she wants most of all? To know she's safe and loved, where she belongs. In exchange she promises adoring gazes and loyal companionship for all her days.

What My Foster Says About Me: Lauren is a very mild-mannered, sweet, and gentle dog. She can be a little skittish and shy, but is very curious about the world and warms up to new people and dogs quickly. Lauren is fairly lazy at home and naps the day away, but she also loves channeling her hound side on long sniffy walks, and still has plenty of energy for adventures. Lauren walks easily on leash and doesn't pull, although she startles easily with really loud noises (garbage trucks, construction sites) and sudden movements. That said, she quickly redirects and is back to sniffing in no time, and she's unphased by normal city noise and activity. Lauren is a champ in her crate and usually likes to sleep there on her own during the day. She sleeps well through the night and rarely barks. Lauren's also doing great with going potty outside. Lauren does very well with the two other dogs in our house and is very submissive and polite with them. She does fine meeting new people, but it takes a minute for Lauren to trust you enough to seek out attention on her own. When she does trust you, she loves to ask for head pats and back scratches and follow you around the house. Lauren is enjoying treats and is very eager to please, so would likely love to do some training with her adopter. She already knows to sit when I put on or take off her leash and is eager to learn more!
Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training.
