Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen her with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!
Currently Living at: DC area foster home

Special adoption considerations: Dogs from Puerto Rico have a major transition to go through when they arrive and will need humans who are very committed to socialization. We think Silk would do best with either a resident dog or a family who can make sure she can go on walks regularly with other dogs, visit the dog park, or go to doggie daycare to learn the ropes. Silk came into our care with an unhealed leg injury. She had a leg amputated and is now living happily and healthily as a tripod!

Silk is Looking For: Her forever home! Silk is a sato from Puerto Rico who is now seeking her forever home in the DC area. She's a young girl, hasn't seen nearly enough of the world yet, and is eager to have her own humans for sniffy walks, romps in the park, and all the adventures they can dream up! Dog school would be great, too, so she can show how super smart she is.
Most of all, though, she wants to know she's safe and loved, where she belongs. In exchange, she promises adoring gazes and all the love and loyalty in her body. What do you say? Is this sweetie the one you see by your side?
What My Foster Says About Me: Silk is a sweet, playful girl has a wonderful balance of energy and chill. She enjoys her daily routine of a morning potty break and an evening trip to the dog park, where she happily plays for 30-60 minutes before rolling around in the grass to show she's ready to rest. At home, she entertains herself with toys in short bursts and then settles in for naps, making her an easy companion for both active and relaxed households. She loves belly rubs, gentle kisses, and will always come over for affection if you sit on the floor. She is friendly and loving with people, she enjoys playing with other dogs too at the park.

She's generally quiet, sleeps through the night, and is doing well with crate training-especially when her crate is cozy and covered with soothing background noise. On leash, she walks nicely and may pull a bit when she spots another dog she wants to greet. She's a toy lover who enjoys squeaky toys (minus the stuffing), nylabones, and carrying her leash around when excited. While she's a bit picky with food, she adores high-value treats and thrives on attention, playtime, and gentle guidance. Overall, she's a loving, playful, and adaptable pup ready to bring joy, cuddles, and fun into her forever home.

Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training.
