Meet Dottie, a 1-year-old Pit Bull Terrier mix who weighs about 30 pounds. This sweet girl came to Wish Bone with her three younger siblings, Dugan, Kit, and Mae, and while she has been a wonderful big sister, she's ready for a family of her own.

Dottie is a sweet, quiet girl who has done wonderfully in her foster home. She's house trained, does great in her crate, catches on to routines quickly, and enjoys relaxing in the house, spending time in the yard, playing with toys, and playing with other dogs.

Dottie can be reserved and timid, especially when faced with new people, unfamiliar sounds, or new experiences. She does warm up, but she'll need a patient family willing to let her build confidence at her own pace. She is also fearful of walking on a leash and is not yet comfortable wearing a harness and leash, so a fenced yard is required for her right now. Having another confident dog in the home would be a wonderful bonus for Dottie and could help her continue coming out of her shell.

Dottie has met young children and was nervous and unsure, so she would currently do best with kids ages 8 and up. She is still learning her manners when people are eating or drinking coffee and may try to climb into laps or get right in their faces, but she responds to patient redirection.

Dottie is a happy, playful, adaptable girl who is learning that the world isn't quite as scary as it sometimes seems. With patience, consistency, and plenty of positive experiences, we think this sweet girl has the potential to blossom into a wonderful family companion.

Her minimum adoption fee is $200 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents.

She has been spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives.
