Missy (A141114) is a 2-year-old malamute who weighed nearly 90 lbs at intake!08/22/26 Missy, previously known as Sour, is back at the shelter because her previous owner did not feel he could provide her with enough outside time. While Missy settles in well into a home, she also loves to be outside. She was described as gentle, outgoing, friendly and affectionate! Missy LOVES belly rubs! Sometimes, that's how she greets people! She has been known to dig and chew. She also needs some help with her manners, as she has been known to jump on people and counters. In her most recent home, Missy was said to do well children and strangers. We would like to reiterate that Missy does not like other animals and should go to a home where she is the only pet. It should also be mentioned that this means dog parks and crowded public areas with other animals are also not a good idea for Missy. While Missy does not go out of her way to get at other dogs, she should not be put into situations that may be stressful or overwhelming or where her new owners do not have full control of her. If you are looking for a super sweet and goofy girl to be your only pet, please give the shelter a call and ask about Missy!05/18/26 Sour is back at the shelter and looking for her new people to love! As previously noted, Sour is looking for a home where she can be the only pet! She was noted to want to chase after cats and will bark at other dogs. She is a large dog, and this behavior can be quite intimidating, but her owner noted that while she barked, she did not pull to get at other dogs on walks. The behaviors described are commonly associated with her breed. Sour was described as outgoing, friendly, and affectionate. She was known to jump up on people but loves all the attention! Sour was known to dig and chew. She was also known to jump fences if they were short enough. Sour was said to be kennel trained and will sit at the door when she needs to go outdoors. If you are interested in meeting this big lovebug, please let us know! 02/07/26 Don't let her name fool you, this young malamute is a super sweetheart! Sour was brought to the shelter due to no fault of her own. She is a super goofy and happy girl, but she would like to be an only pet. Sour does not get along well with other dogs, and while she has not had experience with other animals, we do not feel that she would do well with sharing the love and attention. Sour also does not have experience with kiddos, so please make sure to do slow and controlled introductions and remember that malamutes are large dogs and she may not have total body awareness. Sour was described as being outgoing, friendly and affectionate. She rides well in the car but she has been known to dig, chew and be vocal. It is unclear if Sour is housebroken or kennel trained, so be prepared to cross these bridges together. Routine and consistency will be the key to helping her master these behaviors. If you are interested in making Sour the center of your world, as she strongly believes she should be, please give the shelter a call!
