Rufus (A136404) is a 3-year-old AK Husky who weighed nearly 60 pounds on intake! 03/14/26 Rufus, previously known as Buddy, has been very reluctantly brought back to the shelter after months of his most recent owners managing him around their horses and not being able to continue doing so. Rufus was showing a high prey drive towards the horses, and his most recent owners were concerned for his safety due to his heightened interest in them. We highly recommend Rufus goes to a home without large livestock (horses, cows, sheep, goats, reindeer, etc). Rufus was said to do GREAT with the other dogs in the home and even the cats! He was described as being the best dog ever, super cuddly and affectionate and great with all humans. Rufus has prvoen that he cannot be contained by a crate, but he was said to do great loose in the house. He is used to being part of a cuddle puddle at bed time, sharing his owners' bed with them as well as the other dogs and cats in the home. Rufus knows some basic commands and was said to ride well in the car and to generally be a gentle, outgoing and affectionate boy. If you are interested in meeting Rufus, please give us a call!05/20/25 Buddy is back at the shelter because his ownerâs housing sadly did not allow pets. In his most recent home, Buddy was described as outgoing, friendly, and affectionate! Buddy is a high-energy dog looking for appropriate outlets for his energy to keep him busy and enriched. He was known to get into trash, jump on people, and even over fences when unsupervised. Buddy would highly benefit from attending a basic obedience class to continue working on his manners. He has proven to be treat-motivated and a smart boy! We do not know if Buddy had any interactions with children or other animals in his last home. Please ensure you are always making appropriate introductions with all new people and animals! If you are interested in meeting Buddy, please let us know! 10/28/24 This handsome boy is Buddy! Buddy was surrendered to the shelter because his previous owner could not manage his separation anxiety and felt he could not be left alone. Buddy was described as a very loving dog who is a pro-cuddler! He was also said to know various commands and was stated to be very food-motivated which is always a bonus with training! Buddy was also stated to be kennel trained, housebroken, and to ride well in a car! He would make for an excellent adventure âBuddyâ! In his past home he did great with people of all ages and was also said to do well with other animals including dogs and cats!
