Barney is a gentle soul with a heart full of love. He absolutely thrives on praise - tell him he's a "good boy," and you'll see his whole face light up. Belly rubs are one of his favorite things, and he'll happily flop over anytime for affection.
Now past the puppy stage, Barney has settled into a calm, easygoing companion. He's not much of a barker; he prefers quietly observing the world and staying close to his people. Loyal and obedient, Barney already knows basic commands like sit, stay, down, and shake, and he's continuing to improve on leash walking. He's very treat-motivated and never turns down a snack!
Barney gets excited to meet new people, but he's polite about it - no jumping or barking. He does wonderfully with other dogs and children, and he has excellent house manners. He only chews on his own toys and especially loves tennis balls and chew bones. Whether it's playtime or nap time, Barney has the perfect balance of energy and relaxation.
He's a well-adjusted, loving dog who is ready to find his forever family. One look into his sweet face, and it's hard not to fall in love.
A Few Things to Know About Barney
Sometimes feels anxious getting out of the car or going outside at night and benefits from gentle reassurance.
Has a strong prey drive toward smaller animals like goats and tortoises, so he's probably not the best fit for a farm environment.
Gets along well with larger dogs and responds respectfully to corrections from both dogs and people.
