Cliffhanger is a 10 to 12 month old Yorkie Cairn Terrier mix who weighs a jaw dropping 4 pounds. FOUR. Pounds. This dog is tiny. He is smaller than a 5 pound sack of sugar. About the size of a Coke can. If you blink, you might miss him. If you sneeze, please check the couch first. Cliffhanger may be small, but do not let that fool you. This little guy has a personality that could scale Everest without a rope. Bonus fun fact: Cliffhanger is so perfectly petite he easily fits under an airplane seat, making him the ultimate co pilot for anyone who loves to travel. Carry on sized. First class personality.
Now let's talk about why Cliffhanger is pure gold. He is charming, hilarious, and endlessly entertaining. He loves his people, adores being part of the action, and has mastered the art of being present without being clingy, which is honestly a rare and impressive skill. He is playful, curious, and confident in that "I'm tiny but mighty" way. He loves toys, bully sticks, food, more on that later, and hanging out with other dogs. Cliff does not just enter a room, he hangs onto your heart and refuses to let go. Warning: once you meet him, you may find yourself emotionally dangling off the edge. Turbulence guaranteed.
Cliffhanger's daily routine is as delightful as he is. The day starts around 6:00 a.m. with a quick 15 minute potty break before his foster heads out. When they return around 9:00, it is breakfast time, and Cliffhanger takes his meals very seriously. He is extremely food motivated and eats from a slow feeder bowl because otherwise he would inhale his food like he is on a competitive eating show. After breakfast, he enjoys another potty break followed by about 20 minutes of outdoor playtime. The rest of his day is a rotating schedule of playing with stuffies, chewing bully sticks, romping with resident dogs, exploring the house, and fitting in expert level naps. Dinner is at 6:00 p.m., with multiple potty breaks sprinkled throughout the day. Cliff wants to be where the action is, but he is also perfectly happy wandering off on his own little adventures. Independent, but social. A true crowd pleaser.
When Cliffhanger first arrived, he was scared and overwhelmed. The shelter is a lot for a dog his size. But once he realized he was safe, his true personality came shining through. Today, he is happy, playful, affectionate, and curious about the world around him. He enjoys being near his people, loves engaging with other dogs, and has blossomed into a confident little guy who is ready for his next chapter. Any remaining work in progress moments are handled gently and continue to improve as he gains more confidence, and honestly, they are completely overshadowed by how great he is.
