Mixologist is a delightful blend of charm, curiosity, and easygoing confidence- expertly mixed into one 26-lb Corgi girl with just the right balance of playfulness and relaxation. At 10-12 months old, she came to us from the shelter and stepped into her foster home like a well-practiced professional, acting as though she'd always been part of the family. No awkward adjustment period, no nerves- just a friendly, self-assured pup ready to settle in and enjoy home life.
On weekdays, Mixologist is an early riser, waking up with the family around 6:00 a.m. Weekends are more her style, though, and she's perfectly happy to sleep in for a couple of extra hours in her crate or wait quietly until someone lets her out. Mornings begin with a trip straight to the backyard for potty time, followed by breakfast and some relaxed hangout time while the household gets ready for the day.
During the day, Mixologist is comfortable spending time on her own in her play-pen area when the family is out. On work-from-home days, she enjoys moving between the house and the backyard, checking in with her people and entertaining herself. When everyone is home, the doggy door stays open, and she confidently comes and goes as she pleases, taking care of her potty needs independently.
Evenings are a smooth wind-down: dinner, another backyard potty break, and then some cozy time with the family. At bedtime, she's placed into her crate. While she doesn't walk in on her own just yet, she settles easily once inside, curls up into a neat little ball, and stays quiet through the night until morning.
Personality-wise, Mixologist is a perfectly balanced cocktail of social and self-sufficient. She is super friendly, naturally curious, and comfortable in her environment. She's not overly clingy, but she does enjoy being close to her people- especially in the evenings, when she loves relaxing on the couch and soaking up calm family time. During the day, she's happy to play independently in the backyard or entertain herself with toys.
Mixologist hasn't lived with other dogs or cats in her foster home, but she met many other dogs at the shelter and did well with them. She shows polite curiosity and interest in saying hello. She's also done wonderfully with children, particularly around age 11, and enjoys playing fetch and running around with them.
She is playful and energetic when it's time to engage, especially when fetch or squeaky toys are involved, but she's just as content to lounge and snuggle once the action is over. If her people are busy, she has no trouble amusing herself outside with her toys.
Mixologist goes on regular walks and is still working on her leash manners. She does tend to pull a bit, but she's attentive and curious rather than reactive. She's smart, treat-motivated, and currently learning cues like "sit" and "down," making training sessions both productive and fun.
She is fully housetrained and hasn't had any accidents in the home. Impressively, she learned how to use the doggy door within her first ten minutes and now uses it independently whenever it's available. She is also crate-trained and settles calmly at night.
As for typical dog behaviors, Mixologist enjoys chew toys and rawhide-free chews. She has a funny habit of hiding her chews in the backyard and later digging them up when the craving strikes again. She may bark in the yard if she spots squirrels or senses dogs beyond the fence, but she does not bark at guests and greets visitors with friendly curiosity.
Mixologist's standout quality is her adaptability. She adjusts easily to different routines, energy levels, and environments, making her a great match for many types of homes. Whether it's a household that enjoys playtime and outdoor fun or one that prefers relaxed evenings on the couch, she's happy to go with the flow.
Clever, affectionate, and eager to learn, Mixologist is the kind of dog who fits right in and elevates everyday life. She's a well-balanced mix of everything people love in a companion-proof that sometimes the best things really are expertly blended.
