ELSIE is an absolutely stunning young GSD that came to MOGS with some of her siblings from a severe neglect situation. Elsie and her siblings lived in a basically feral pack situation on their breeders' property, where they were basically forced to fight with each other for survival. Their only exposure to other dogs were the older breeding pairs on the property - and even Elsie, at just eight months old, had already had a litter of puppies. Thier familiarity with people was non-existent, so bad that it took the breeders over an hour to corner her and get her into the transport van. Elsie refused to come out of her crate for a week after her arrival, and cowered in the corner anytime her handlers went to clean the crate, or offer food and water. She even had to be vetted through the crate bars, because she was so terrified of everything and everyone. Patience and care is winning the day with Elsie - she is now freely coming out of her kennel, happy to see her foster mom, and seeking affection like the goofball she really is underneath all of the trauma. She is a smart girl, and learns fast. She is currently working on potty-training, and developing confidence with her handler. Elsie's ideal home will be with a highly experienced GSD handler, who has the skill and patience to continue her journey to socialization, structure and confidence. At this time, she needs to be an only pet in the home, as she will need time and attention while she learns. Elsie also would like no young children in the home, as she is currently still skittish and cowers/startles at unexpected movements, and things she doesn't understand.

ELSIE'S ADOPTION FEE: $400 This fee covers only part of what we spend to vet, board and rehab the dogs we save. On average we spend over $450 on each dog. We made a decision to keep our adoption fee at the 2005 level even though vet prices have doubled and tripled since then. We are constantly fundraising to cover the deficit. At minimum, your adoption fee includes the dog's spay/neuter, heartworm test, heartworm treatment if needed, rabies shot, distemper/parvo shot, bordatella shot, deworming, monthly heartworm and flea preventives, and microchip. In many cases it also includes surgery and various types of vet treatment for standard issues such as hot spots, ear infections and so on.INTERESTED IN ADOPTING ELSIE?Complete an Adoption Application Now!
