ZIVA was owner surrendered by elderly owners who bought her as a puppy then couldn't control her as she grew.
TEMPERAMENT Ziva is a 2.5-year-old female German Shepherd with a big heart, a sharp mind, and energy to spare. She loves playing ball almost as much as she loves people-and once she bonds with you, you'll have a loyal companion for life. While Ziva hasn't had much experience living in a home, she has already proven to be both housetrained and kennel trained, showing just how adaptable and eager to please she is.True to her breed, Ziva is a high-energy girl who thrives on walks, playtime, and activities that let her burn off that classic GSD energy.
PEOPLEShe's affectionate and enjoys attention and snuggles from anyone willing to give them. She can be quite vocal when she's excited, adding to her expressive personality.
Ziva does have some typical German Shepherd traits, including mouthing when she's excited-especially during ball play-and some display of protective behaviors, so she'll need a patient, consistent adopter to help her work through this. Due to limited exposure, we're unable to say how she would do with children, but recommend no kids under age 16 and above.OTHER ANIMALSZiva appears to have a strong prey drive and has shown selective reactivity toward other dogs, so should be the only pet in the home. MEDICALZiva is up-to-date on vaccines, has a current rabies tag, is microchipped and has been spayed. Ziva has no known health issues.
Because Ziva hasn't always had a loving, structured environment, she will benefit from a confident, experienced handler who can provide clear boundaries, positive training, and reassurance to help prevent behaviors like resource guarding. In return, you'll get a devoted, intelligent, and loving dog who truly wants to do right by her person.

ZIVA'S ADOPTION FEE: $350 This fee covers only part of what we spend to vet, board and rehab the dogs we save. On average we spend over $450 on each dog. We made a decision to keep our adoption fee at the 2005 level even though vet prices have doubled and tripled since then. We are constantly fundraising to cover the deficit. At minimum, your adoption fee includes the dog's spay/neuter, heartworm test, heartworm treatment if needed, rabies shot, distemper/parvo shot, bordatella shot, deworming, monthly heartworm and flea preventives, and microchip.
