Meet Val!Update 4/6/26: Val's previous foster had to travel, so Val is currently being fostered by a retired couple where he is the only kitty in the home. Here is what his current foster family has to say about him:"Val is a happy playful boy. He loves to be with us at all times and joins us on the couch or bed for snuggles. He loves to be in touch, putting his paw or head on my arm while beside me but he's not really a lap kitty. Val will play with almost anything that moves including small toy balls and cars. He loves our interactive play with wands and he will fetch my hair scrungees. He's very vocal especially if he thinks it's time (always) for more food or treats. Enjoys birdwatching from windows. Val is the only cat in our home but he's also lived with other cats and dogs."
Update 2/11/26: Val was fostered in an apartment setting by a working single adult along with one other ARWOB foster kitty. Here is what his foster had to say about him:
"Val is such a loving and affectionate kitty! He always wants to be touching you in some way, whether that's when you're sitting on the couch or cooking something in the kitchen -- he's at your ankles or on your lap the whole time! He's got such a good balance of playfulness and cuddles, and will go from running around and entertaining himself with a toy to stretched out on his back on the couch within minutes. He also loves to talk and will meow whenever he sees you to say hi and tell you how he's doing. While he's still got a bit of stranger danger that we're working through, he warms up to people quickly as long as they give him some space (and treats). Val is such an amazing boy!!"
Original Rescue Story:
Val is your typical handsome tuxedo. He comes to us from the streets of Baja Mexico, specifically Ensenada. He is not fully grown, but almost there as a "teenage" kitty. He is currently fostered at Casa de ARWOB along with several foster siblings, both dogs and cats. He is the type of cat who assimilated easily from day one when he arrived. For being a male teenage cat, he is very easy going around other cats. He is not a bully, nor is he interested in "play" fighting to see who the boss is. He has excellent litter box manners and would do great in a home with other resident cats or to be adopted together with any of our other resident cats. Although Val is exposed to dogs, he is pretty neutral about them, but like most cats he does better with dogs who are calm, cool, and collected around cats. A dog that darts and runs to him will absolutely make him run for the counter, as he does not hold his ground, which is likely from his time living on the streets.
Val was rescued as a kitten around 4 months of age, but only arrived at ARWOB the last day of September, at which time he had his medical done. He is a strong and healthy kitty, who is neutered and has tested negative for FeLV/FIV. He absolutely loves toys - all toys! He is easy going and well behaved. He will spend time around you, but so far he doesn't seek a lot of human companionship. He did seek out human attention when he first arrived, but then he likely reverted back to seeking more cat companionship than human companionship once he came to Casa de ARWOB. We think that if he were to live in a home with no other cats, he might start to request attention and build a rapport with his human family. If you'd like to give him a chance to see if he becomes more of a human oriented kitty, who will become more social and seek pets, we encourage you to request a foster-to-adopt trial to see if he would be a good match.
If you would like to adopt this cutie, please submit an online application at www.arwob.org and we will email or text you to schedule a phone call to discuss your application. We do not hold cat adoption events and only schedule meet and greets at the foster homes. For this reason, we have to process applications prior to scheduling the meet and greet. Don't wait, as Val would love to meet you. He is ready for adoption!
