AMARYLLIS**

Hello! Like many dogs in NC, I am currently heartworm positive, but don't worry - OCAS will cover the cost of my treatment! In North Carolina, it's unfortunately common to see many dogs that are infected with heartworms (they are transmitted by mosquito bites). Heartworm disease may cause severe lung disease, heart failure, or other organ damage in dogs. It's usually fatal if left untreated. Heartworm treatment is costly. She was so friendly with everyone around her and was even great with kids. She had so issues whatsoever. She is a very curious dog with good energy but can also be very mellow. She’s a great mix of energetic and calm. Favorite thing: Her friendliness and curiosity, she was so happy to meet anyone around her. She was also just so sweet to us and everyone around her.``Amaryllis is an athletic, smart, and eager-to-please dog. She is very trainable and a great hiking companion. She loves to exercise, and she can go into `puppy mode` if she needs to expel some energy. This just looks like tug of war with the leash or jumping. She is easily redirected with something appropriate to chew on. She is the perfect companion for someone with an active lifestyle. She loves the outdoors, and she is so intelligent and tuned into humans. She is really good at sensing birds, and will 'point' when she spies one on the trail (she pointed out a barred owl!).`Super sweet dog! She loves a slow walk and sniffing around.
