He is fully house-trained and crate-trained. While he doesn’t love his crate, once he’s inside he’s quiet, calm, and well-behaved. On walks, he’s unfazed by other people and dogs, though passing cars can make him a little nervous. He adores other dogs and can get very excited when meeting them. With slow introductions, he settles more quickly and responds well to gentle guidance as he continues working on his manners. At his core, Monte is just a really good soul. He leads with love and enthusiasm and sometimes doesn’t realize that not everyone (human or canine!) loves as hard as he does, which is part of what makes him so endearing. He’s a goofy, affectionate boy who truly just wants to love and be loved in return.There are a few health things to be aware of, but Monte is doing very well and improving every day. He has atopic dermatitis, a common, lifelong environmental allergy that can cause itchy skin and eye irritation. While it isn’t curable, it is very manageable, and Monte handles his care like an absolute champ. His routine includes regular medicated baths and an eye ointment applied twice daily and he’s incredibly easygoing and cooperative for all of it.Overall, Monte is a resilient, loving, and joyful dog who would thrive in a home willing to continue his simple care routine and spoil him with the love he so freely gives. He has so much love to offer and is ready to share it with his forever family. When Monte first meets other pups he can get a little excited (who wouldn’t be?), but once that initial excitement passes, his easygoing and passive personality shines through. Monte is truly a loving, snuggly dog who is ready for a home where he can continue healing and be someone’s loyal best friend.``He is very unphased by anything walking by, no barking and very happy. He is so chill and loves being pressed against you.``Monte is truly a ray of sunshine! He makes every person (or dog) he comes into contact with feel so loved. Monte does well in the car and can be left alone and uncrated for a couple of hours without accidents. He walks well on the leash, only pulling when he wants to meet a new friend but can be redirected! Speaking of, Monte is great at making other doggie friends! He got along with our neighbor’s dog splendidly and they ended up having nightly play dates. Monte was my shadow for the week and always made me feel so loved, whether that be by squirming under the covers at night or his wiggles when I got home from work. Anyone would be lucky to have Monte as a family member!! My favorite thing about Monte is how much love he has to give! It’s so evident that he adores his people with his whole heart. He would be an incredible addition to any family`
