The Boy at the Back of the KennelMeet Ducky-a gentle, shy boy with the sweetest face and a quiet hope that someone will give him a chance. The shelter has been a scary place for Ducky, and you'll often find him tucked in the back of his kennel, trying to make himself small while the noisy world rushes around him. But underneath that fear is a soft, curious dog who truly wants to trust.Once leashed up, Ducky walks beautifully and seems to relax more with each step away from the kennel. On a recent walk, after a little time and patience, he started nudging his walker's hand with his adorable little snout-a tiny gesture that felt like a very big step. He even has a funny way of sitting on the curb, with one back leg stretched behind him, that's guaranteed to make you smile.Ducky doesn't react to other dogs and seems quietly curious about the world around him. He's already making progress, but what he really needs is a calm, patient home where he can continue to come out of his shell at his own pace. This sweet boy may not rush into your arms on day one, but for someone willing to go slow, Ducky has the kind of gentle companionship that feels truly special. This cutie pie has participated in shelter playgroups and may enjoy a compatible canine friend in his new home. Looking for a buddy for your dog? Bring him/her to the shelter for a meet and greet and see if we're a match!
