MEET CHICKPEA*Has extra thumbs* Sweet, but shy!* Food motivatedEveryone knows that chickpeas are the unsung hero of the food world, and this little dude is no different! While he may not be the most ostentatious legume, he makes up for it in quiet charm. Chickpea is handsome little guy - with huge thumbs! - who is acclimating to the indoor life. So far he loves stinky wet food, quiet chats, and soft pets. Since he's still learning about life, he would like a relaxed home with people who will dote on him, but also respect his boundaries. We suspect it won't take long for this chickpea to become squishy hummus! WHAT TO EXPECTChickpea came to us through our Community Cats program and was born outside. Because of this, he's had very little human interaction and will need a slow transition into your home. To help him acclimate to his new home we reccomend confinement to bathroom or guest room for a short period of time. Additionally, if you have another cat at home who is cat-friendly, they can help insecure kittens feel more comfortable and less overwhelmed while he adjusts to life in his new home. *Hiding: During the transition period, we highly recommend confining your new kitten to crate in your home where they can learn about their new surroundings but still feel secure in the crate. This will eliminate the worry of âlosing themâ in your home â kittens will find anywhere to hide! . We can lend you a crate for this introductory period and you can return it when you donât need it anymore.*Transition: This period can be scary, and potential backslide in behavior is to be expected. Just as this kitten was starting to feel comfortable in the shelter, you adopted them and took them home to a new environment. Be patient while they learn the new patterns, sounds, and smells of your home.*Hands-On Work at Home: When get your kitten home, it is important to work with them. Find wet food that your kitty loves and pet them while they are eating.
