01/14/26 12:55 Ripple is a young male english bull dog who came into the shelter with chronic bilateral cherry eye and dry eye, entropion (rolling in of the eyelids, more severe at the lower lids, but present at the upper lids as well), ear infections, facial fold irritatoin, and intermittent lameness on the right pelvic limb.Ripple's ears and skin were treated and are responding well to medication. He is on eye medications for his dry eye.The shelter castrated him, and repaired his lower lid entropion at both eyes. The shelter did not perform cherry eye correction, as standard surgical procedure performed at a general practice level (e.g. morgan pocket technique) have a high rate of failure in this breed and this breed has a higher rate of post-revision complications. Revision is best performed with a veterinary opthalmologist. The shelter started him on tacrolimus, a medication for dry eye.At time of castration, x-rays of his limbs were taken due to intermittent limp on the right hind leg. Mild dysplasia is noted in the R hip, but there are no severe arthritic changes yet, though this can occur down the road.In need of a rescue willing to provide follow-up opthalmology care (cherry eye evaluation and repair, chronic management of dry eye), and upper lid entropion repair if an opthalmologist feels it is indicated clinically.
