02/19/26 17:29Leela is a small, spayed white Miniature Poodle who has been in the shelter since January 31. She is approximately 8 to 10 years old.Leela is functionally blind. Her left eye was removed at the time of her spay due to chronic inflammatory changes that caused blindness. Her right eye is also blind, but she is currently comfortable. She does have hearing and relies on her nose to navigate her surroundings.Once she finds you, she absolutely melts. Leela gently sniffs until she locates her person, then leans in for comfort. She carefully tries to climb into your lap as if she is saying, “Please hold me,” and gives the softest little kisses. She walks nicely on a leash but may bump into objects due to her vision loss. Above all, she wants to cuddle.She also has some matting and would benefit from a gentle spa day to relieve irritation and help her feel her best. She has mild dental tartar, recently treated ear inflammation, and maintains a good appetite.Despite her age and physical challenges, Leela’s spirit is incredibly soft and affectionate. She needs patience, reassurance, and a calm environment where she can learn the layout and feel safe. Once she knows where you are, she wants to stay close.Leela needs rescue due to her normal aging needs and blindness. She would thrive in a quiet home where she can rest, feel secure, and be someone’s beloved little companion.
