04/02/26 17:06Debbie has made great improvements from when she came in back in February. She is still stand off-ish with people she doesn't know and it takes time to gain her trust. But with the people she does know she turns into a completely different dog! With those she trusts, Debbie is known to come up for pets and even get into their laps. Debbie is a dog that just wants some love but doesn't always know that it is safe to ask for it. In kennel, she presents as uncomfortable with handlingâgrowling, barking, tail tucked, and avoiding touch. She may approach people submissively but is not yet comfortable being pet and has shown head-turning/avoidance when handling is attempted. Debbieâs behavior improves significantly in the presence of another small dog. When taken out for vaccines with a social dog, she relaxed, engaged in play, and began to solicit gentle interaction from staff. She is now housed with a similar-sized dog to help support her confidence. Debbie remains fearful and is urgently in need of placement with a rescue organization who can continue building her trust in a quieter, supportive environment.
