06/30/26 10:27 Watermelon is a middle aged to senior gray siberiaan husky who is in need of urgent rescue with the following medical conditions. In need of URGENT RESCUE.This dog has a history of discomfort with hip extension, and radiographs showed **bilateral coxofemoral (hip) osteoarthritis**. Osteoarthritis is a progressive, degenerative joint disease that cannot be cured but can often be successfully managed with weight management, regular low-impact exercise, joint supplements, pain medications, and other therapies as recommended by a veterinarian. Clinical signs may include stiffness, difficulty rising, reluctance to jump or climb stairs, or lameness. As arthritis progresses, long-term pain management may be necessary to maintain a good quality of life. Currently on gabapentin in shelter.Radiographs also identified **multifocal ventral spondylosis deformans** affecting the spine. Spondylosis deformans is a common age-related condition in which bony bridges form between the vertebrae. Many dogs have no clinical signs, while others may experience back stiffness or discomfort. Treatment is generally conservative and focuses on maintaining mobility and managing pain if clinical signs develop. This dog was diagnosed with **left-sided otitis externa (ear infection)** and was treated with Simplera on **6/24**. The infection should continue to improve following treatment; however, some dogs are predisposed to recurrent ear infections, particularly if they have underlying allergies or chronic inflammation. If head shaking, scratching at the ears, odor, redness, or discharge recurs, prompt veterinary evaluation is recommended. On **6/30**, this dog was diagnosed with a **bacterial urinary bladder infection (urinary tract infection)** and has been started on a course of antibiotics. If urinary accidents, straining to urinate, frequent urination, blood in the urine, or other urinary signs persist or recur after treatment, follow-up with a primary care veterinarian is recommended, as additional diagnostics may be needed. This dog also has **mild to moderate dental tartar and several crown tip fractures** affecting the teeth. While these fractured teeth do not currently show evidence of complications requiring immediate treatment, fractured teeth can expose the sensitive inner structures of the tooth over time and may become painful or infected. A complete dental examination, including dental radiographs performed under anesthesia, is recommended with the adopter's veterinarian to determine whether any treatment or extractions are indicated. Routine professional dental care is also recommended to address the existing dental disease.07/01/26 12:17What did we do on todayâs adventure:* Watermelon went on her FIRST outing Tails and Trails adventure walking almost three miles - NO LIMP NOTICED- through Willow Glen neighborhood* She is a a very calm and friendly dog, non reactive to cars, trucks, strollers and other loud noises.* She hopped in the car with a little help and sat patiently both ways in a bed that was in the back of the jeep. What should potential adopters know about me:* She is a medium size husky, who never tried to jump out of the caror run away, and she lays down looking at the world when her walkers sat down.* Very chill and friendly dog who STOPS to sniff and â smell thescents!â* She does pull but will follow leash directions by directing the leasha certain way!
