05/06/26 10:53Sweet Kilo has inflammation on his paws including pustules between his toes and redness. This is called Pododermatitis. Pododermatitis is a multifactorial condition, meaning it can have multiple contributing causes. These may include (but are not limited to) allergies (environmental or food-related), skin infections (bacterial or yeast), parasites, conformational factors, excessive licking/chewing, and underlying medical conditions. In many cases, more than one factor is involved, and identifying the exact cause may require ongoing veterinary evaluation and diagnostics. Kilo is obese, and obseity is a significant contributing factor to pododermatitis. Excess body weight can increase pressure on the feet, alter normal posture and gait, and contribute to inflammation, decreased mobility, and difficulty keeping the paws clean and dry. Overweight dogs may also be more prone to secondary infections and delayed healing.Kilo remains available for adoption but could benefit from rescue urgently to help facilitate structured weight loss which is difficult to achieve in a shelter environment. He does do ok with some male so if your friends or fmaily have another dog, make sure to do a slow introduction.If you're ready to add something more to your routine, come in and meet Kilo today!05/28/26 10:10What I did today:Kilo had a slow, easygoing start on his first Tails and Trails outing, showing just how relaxed and observant he is. He loved lounging in the grass with a toy, taking in everything around him, and wasn’tbothered at all by cyclists, walkers, or joggers. When he was up and moving, he happily trotted along carrying a ball or stick, enjoying all the new smells. He seems to prefer a mellow pace with plenty ofbreaks to relax in the shade.What to know about Kilo:• Rides great in the car—happily jumps right in and settles in as a calm passenger• Knows how to sit nicely for treats and loves showing off his adorable double paw (both right and left!)• Very food-motivated, making him a great candidate for ongoing training and learning• Low energy and happiest lounging around with his toThree words to describe me:Handsome, Affectionate, Easygoing
