03/06/26 13:13 Oreo is a very senior male castrated papillon mix in need of rescue or a committed senior dog adopter. He needs a soft place to land!Medical conditions:- Oreo has stage 2 (out of 4) chronic renal disease based on his labwork. - Oreo also came into the shelter with many missing teeth and very severe end-stage periodontal disease at his 15 remaining teeth. He has a chronic pathologic fracture at the left mid-mandible from tooth root abcesses destroying bone beneath it. Medical team removed his 15 remaining teeth. He eats well despite his left mandibular instability. - Oreo has muscle wasting, likely from his age and from his kidney disease- Oreo has medial patellar luxation in both knees (grade 2/4) with crepitus suggesting some secondary arthritis in the knees. - Oreo may have reduced vision - sometimes he has difficulty finding his way about his kennel. We suspect early cataracts.- Oreo has a very focal (subtle) heart murmur - grade 2/4. Recommendations- Will need prescription kidney wet food diet lifelong (NF, K/D or Royal Canin Renal)- Will need routine labwork every 3-6 months or as recommended by adopters/rescues primary care veterinarian to monitor kidney values- May need chronic pain management for arthritis/knee-cap disease. NSAID-type medications are typically contraindicated in renal disease patients unless carefully guided by veterinarian.- Heart check by a vet at least every 6 months, and may eventually need echocardiogram or chest x-rays if murmur becomes more prominent or patient develops cough or exercise intolerance
