Casper does his namesake proud! He's such a sweet, friendly, affectionate boy. Anyone could easily become his friend. He loved interacting with a wide range of people, even people who were apprehensive about dogs. He is great with kids, from teens to around four or five. He's curious about babies and younger kids, though he did not interact directly with either. He is a jumpy boy, but he is working on taming his excitement and learning his manners. One-on-one, he is wonderful. Where he is uncomfortable is with crowds. He was a bit overwhelmed by big groups of people, especially at first, but he settled down with some coaxing and encouragement. Treats, toys and attention are the way to his heart.Something to note: he thinks every surface is for him to sit on. A chair? Obviously his. A not quite empty table? His, whether his upper body can pull him up or not. Your lap? That's where he'd like to sit, actually. Something that looks vaguely like a bench? You bet he'll plop his bespotted rear down right on it. But don't let this love of places he may or may not sit in, on or upon make you think that he's not down to play, explore and run like the puppy he is! He loves squeaky stuffies and rope toys, in particular. Walking around Southside Park's lake was a feast for his senses, there are so many smells to sniff and other animals to watch! The geese and ducks were much less interested in him, but he was fascinated by them. Though he was easy to redirect with the temptation of other stuff to sniff, he didn't focus on any non-canine animal for long. Other dogs were very interesting to him, he may appreciate being around another dog rather than being an only dog. At the same time, he'll soak up all of the attention you can give him and would probably still want more. If you have a lot of love to give, he'd happily lap all of it up, or share it with a friend. He's an absolute darling. Sweet, goofy, affectionate and very responsive to the energy of whoever he's interacting with. If you're calm, he will be, too. If you're feeling playful, he's down too. I can only imagine how much he'd love to cuddle on the couch in his forever home.
