Watch out, world - here comes Spud!
Spud is about 2-3 months old and is a big dog in a tiny dog buddy! She is a zesty girl who is brave and full of energy. She is looking for an active family to take her on lots of adventures and keep her busy mind and body happy. Spud currently weighs about 5lbs and we think she will be under 20lbs when fully grown.
Spud was found all by herself along a local highway when she was only 6 weeks old. A Good Samaritan luckily found her, and she was brought to the animal shelter. Due to her age, they wanted to send her to a rescue where should go grow up in a foster home. Spud has been thriving in a foster home and can't wait to be fully vaccinated so that she can take on the world!
Spud is everything that you would expect from a terrier puppy - playful, confident, and affectionate. She is the perfect mix of independent and cuddly and would make a great addition to a home with a lot of people to love on her. She loves being the center of attention! Spud is a smart girl who needs lots of mental stimulation to keep her content. She would love a family who would be interested in lots of training, like agility or scentwork. She would thrive in group puppy classes where she can make lots of friends and learn her basic manners.
Spud loves other dogs and has become BFFs with the young dog in her foster home. We think she would do best in a home that has another playful dog so that she always has a buddy to wrestle with. We haven't seen Spud around cats, but she is young enough that she could be trained to live with dog-savvy cats. Spud could be a wonderful addition to a family with kids 10 years and older.
Spud has been doing well with her house and crate training, but is still learning and needs a family dedicated to continuing her training. Spud has some things to say about being home alone, but can settle after a little while. She will need to continue to be slowly acclimated to being left. Due to her amount of energy and vocal personality, Spud probably wouldn't be a good fit to live in an apartment.
Spud is such a fun girlm and she can't wait to liven up with her endless happiness. If she sounds like the girl for you, submit an application today!

The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes.
Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm, started on preventatives, and given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption.
